چکیده

Background: NAFLD is a clinical spectrum ranging from steatosis (fatty infiltration) to with inflammation, necrosis, fibrosis and cirrhosis resembling alcoholic hepatitis in the absence of abuse. The aim this work was determine early renal functional alterations overweight / obese children adolescents NAFLD, as assessed by estimated glomerular filtration rate using cystatin C, evaluate its relation degree various clinic-laboratory parameters NAFLD.
Methods: This case control research included 60 adolescent. Cases were classified into two equal groups: group 1: or 2: without NAFLD. Twenty healthy age-and-sex matched BMI less than 85th percentile for age sex chosen controls.
Results: There significantly positive correlation among serum C weight, BMI, Waist/Hip ratio, ALT, AST, cholesterol, Hip circumference, Fasting plasma insulin Insulin resistance. negative eGFR. significant correlations between eGFR weight z score, hip waist/hip fasting insulin, resistance C.
Conclusions: Serum Cystatin correlated hepatic steatosis. Values lower patients compared those controls. reduction statistically Levels W/H cholesterol

Estimation of glomerular filtration rate using serum cystatin C in overweight and obese subjects.

BACKGROUND Obesity and overweight are strong independent risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Using serum creatinine-based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) equations in these subjects may be inaccurate. On the other hand, cystatin C-based eGFR equations may overestimate CKD prevalence as recent findings suggest an association of cystatin C with obesity. The objective of thi...

SERUM CYSTATIN C AS A NEW MARKER OF GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE (GFR)

Cystatin C is a 13 KD basic protein that is a member of the cystatin superfamily of cysteine protease inhibitors. The cystatin C gene seems to be a house keeping gene, which is compatible with a stable production rate of cystatin C by most cells. This protein is freely filtered through the glomerulus and almost completely reabsorbed and catabolized by proximal tubular cells. Because of the...

Serum inflammatory markers in overweight children and adolescents with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

BACKGROUND Obesity, a worldwide pandemia, is associated with a large variety of comorbidities, among which is non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. NAFLD is a complex disease that may eventually lead to cirrhosis, posing a high risk for the patient and thus necessitating early diagnosis and treatment. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the association between ultrasonographically diagnosed non-alcoholic fat...

Evaluation of Serum Chemerin and Lipid accumulation product as Predictors of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Simple Obese Egyptian Children

Background The increase in the prevalence of obesity worldwide has led to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) becoming one of the most common causes of chronic liver disease. Chemerin is a novel adipokine which regulates adipogenesis which is also a marker of systemic and vascular inflammation. Lipid accumulation product (LAP) is associated with the presenc...

Cystatin C for glomerular filtration rate estimation: coming of age.

Assessment of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is essential for clinical practice. GFR is difficult to measure [measured GFR (mGFR)]; instead it is estimated [estimated GFR (eGFR)] by use of the serum concentration of endogenous filtration markers. However, all endogenous filtration markers are affected by factors other than GFR (non-GFR determinants), including generation, renal tubular reabso...
